THE GREEN DESIGN, CSR PROGRAM

At Green Design, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is wrapped up in our 3C program, the 3Cs Program:

CommunityCarbon NeutralityCircular Economy.

After 40 years of indoor plant hire, we’ve turned our positive community and environment influence into a more formal structure. We have now prepared a more focused and measured strategy for supporting these areas. Green Walls and Office Plants are healthy and support a greener, biophilic environment for the office and we want people to know; our aim is to be socially and environmentally responsible!

It is this focused approach that will make Green Design not only meet its commitments, but ensure the entire company is working towards exceeding them. The program supports meaningfully giving back to society while creating an environment our team can be proud of.

Looking ahead, we aim to extend the program to include ‘Country’. The 4Cs. This will see Green Design supporting both the people of the Indigenous Community and their land.

Community

Our Community focus includes:

  • Working with Ronald McDonald House
  • Working with people finding it difficult returning to work
  • Two staff members working through return-to-work schemes
  • Supported Community Groups
  • Number of small donations to community groups
"I think that there is nothing more homely than beautiful plants and when families are spending most pf every waking hour in the Hospital beside their kids to be able to come back to the Ronald McDonald House, at the end of the day, and feel like they are at “home” is what it is all about. A massive thank you to Green Design Indoor Plants for making it happen"

Carbon Neutral

Green Design are keen to become Carbon Neutral by 2030 (CNL30).

We are currently in the process of working out our baseline so that we can work on the plan to get us to Zero. It cant be measured if we don’t already know what we are currently contributing. This doesn’t mean we cant start our march to Zero. Our team has started reducing our carbon output by:

  • Installing Solar Panels on our buildings
  • Move to hybrid vehicles
  • Investment in sub-irrigation systems

Target Carbon Negative by 2035 (CNE35) – Move to Electric Vehicles

Circular Economy

Our Circular Economy focuses on:

Reuse  – use of decorate pots

When our decorative pots come back to us off hire, they are all taken back to our Painting Department and assessed for reuse. From here they are sanded back and refinished and ready to go to the next client

Recycle

Decorative pots – when they have reached their useful life and are made of recyclable material are sent off to our recyclers – see our video in the gallery.

Grow Pots – you can imagine the number of grow pots we gather from our plant returns. Like when your establishing your gardens your left with lots of grow pots. We have that issue every day. So what do we do with this grow pots. They too are separated and set to our Grow Pot suppliers who recycle them and make more pots. See Video

Plants – when our plants come back and have completed their time in your space they are graded into three categories – able to sell as seconds, sent off to be cut back and regrown, which can take 2-3 years or mulched to be used in the production of Lillies – how good is that. Our plants don’t go into landfill.

Pebbles – whilst we are phasing out the use of pebble we still have lots out in the market. So that they aren’t going to landfill we have invested in a cleaning process so we can reuse this limited resource – its saving our rivers and reducing landfill.
