A community focused retail upgrade where planting and seating work as one.
As part of the new Furniture Pods concept, Green Design delivered an integrated planting concept across key circulation and food court zones at Winston Hills Mall. The planting softens high traffic areas, complements the warm material palette, and enhances the comfort of new seating hubs designed to support community connection and dwell time.
Winston Hills Mall, where planting transforms everyday retail moments into welcoming spaces to pause and connect.
The upgrade at Winston Hills Mall has transformed previously transitional areas into comfortable, inviting destinations. The integrated planting within the new furniture pods encourages shoppers to pause, meet, and stay longer, supporting stronger dwell time across the centre. Seating areas that once felt purely functional now feel layered and welcoming, reinforcing the centre’s role as a local community hub.
Visually, the planting introduces warmth and cohesion throughout the food court and main circulation areas. It complements the classic detailing and warm palette outlined in the design brief, creating a softer and more inviting atmosphere. Across all seating pods and clusters, the greenery provides consistency while still allowing each area to retain its own character.
From an operational perspective, the installation of 162 plants across varied planter types was delivered with precision and staged coordination. The result is a durable, easy to maintain planting design that supports both retail activity and the day-to-day running of the centre.
Most importantly, the project enhances how people feel within the space. Shoppers now experience moments of pause between errands, conversations over coffee, and comfort while waiting. The planting does more than decorate the centre; it reinforces its identity as a welcoming and community focused destination.
